Robert Stanley, one of the founding partners of Levitch Stanley Mendell, manages Levitch Stanley Mendell's family law practice. He is a Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS), certified by the California Board of Legal Specialization. 

Robert successfully represents a wide gamut of high earners and high net worth individuals in complex and sensitive family law matters. His clients include high profile entertainers and athletes, successful corporate executives, start-up entrepreneurs, and stay-at-home parents, all of whom rely on Robert as a trusted advisor and tireless advocate. 

Robert handles all forms of relationship termination matters, including “traditional” opposite-sex divorces, as well as the dissolution of non-marital relationships, domestic partnerships, and same-sex marriages. (Robert is a co-author of the CEB treatise, "California Domestic Partnerships and Same-Sex Marriage.") Robert also drafts, reviews and negotiates all types of relationship agreements, including cohabitation agreements, premarital agreements, pre-partnership agreements, post-marital agreements, separation agreements, relationship termination agreements, and marital settlement agreements. In all of his work, Robert strives to deliver excellent results for his clients while maximizing efficiencies and minimizing conflict.

For more than twenty years, Robert has practiced exclusively in the area of family law. Robert began his legal career as a civil litigator (with the firms of Freeman, Mathis & Gary and Drew, Eckl & Farnham) handling complex employment discrimination, municipal liability and products/premises liability matters. Early on in that career, however, he discovered that his exceptional interpersonal skills and talents for discreetly and successfully resolving high stakes financial issues and personal situations of his clients were especially suited to representing wealthy individuals and exceptionally high earners in complicated family law matters. 

Prior to starting Levitch Stanley Mendell, Robert was the family law partner of the prestigious Beverly Hills law firm of Rosenfeld Meyer & Susman, which closed after more than 60 years of providing the community with the highest levels of service in a wide variety of legal specialties, including entertainment, civil litigation, and trusts and estates. Prior to Rosenfeld, Robert was a partner in the premier original Beverly Hills boutique family law firm, Jaffe and Clemens, where he practiced for over a decade. Robert began his family law career being mentored by John Mayoue in Atlanta, Georgia, who taught him to be a gentleman above all else, including in the practice of family law. 

Each year since 2018, Robert has been one of only 30 family law attorneys in the state of California ranked among the world’s leading family law attorneys by the Chambers High Net Worth Guide. Robert has also been named on the Southern California Super Lawyers list every year since 2020. 

In addition to working hard for Levitch Stanley Mendell's family law clients, Robert gives back to the community. He was honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice, a non-profit which provides essential family law and other legal services to survivors of domestic violence, from 2014 through 2021. He has been a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association since 2005, and currently serves on its Family Law Executive Committee, as he has since 2017. Robert has also been a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association since 2005.

In his free time, Robert enjoys travel, playing tennis, and watching Florida Gator football and Grand Slam tennis. Robert attends All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills, where he married his husband in 2007.
